Nearly everything I've purchased from here has fallen apart, including:

There used to be a day, and I am not that old, where you could receive service far more personal and consumer oriented from a store such as this. Unfortunately it has changed and become the same C.Y.A. Style policy as anywhere.
There's usually a knowledgeable employee within earshot, or whomever can hear you will help you find someone who can assist.
This also was not the only experience I had with the same level of canned disappointment.
A duplicate ignition key that was incorrectly cut, and broke off within 2 weeks. When I took it back, I spoke with Tom, who made the key, and he shrugged his shoulders...that was all. Another employee nearby had to come over and remake the key...etc., etc.
On a positive note, most of the other employees are actually quite nice and helpful. Too bad it doesn't make up for the rest of the aggravation.
Kitchen sink stoppers with the fake chrome finish peeling off after less than 3 months.
I have had to deal with Tom on several occasions, and he is always rude, hateful, and unhelpful. I have to go out of my way to avoid him and his bad attitude.
Driveway reflectors that lasted 4 months. The plastic ring that holds in the reflectors randomly crack and aren't fixable.
Sorry Ace, but I'll be driving the few extra miles to the nearest Lowe's to not have to deal with you again.
The Ace brand products are poorly made Chinese garbage and overpriced at any price. The lifetime return policy is a joke, as failed products are just replaced with the exact same piece of junk.
I can understand the policy of not refilling a propane bottles during a storm but its silly when i walked out side and there was no rain, no lighting or thunder anywhere. Partly cloudy sky. What the heck happen to common scene. They sure don't care about my dinner cooking or about how far I drove to get there. I have to say they did offer to exchange the propane bottle but the one I brought is one I bought because it has a Gage on it. I wanted to keep it. If there is clouds in the sky don't expect to get a propane bottle refilled here.
I attempted to have a key cut, which they would not do. I was bringing in a style of key they do not sell ( it incorporates the keyless entry remote into the key itself ) they refused because of "Liability". Now I understand this to a point, however it is frustrating to receive the same canned service experience from an Ace Hardware as I would at the big box alternatives.
A pot metal lawn sprinkler that snapped off at the stake from normal use within 6 months. I tried to return it under its lifetime warranty and had to argue with an associate, who finally conceded to replace the metal stake. The new stake broke exactly the same way after 3 uses, and is currently held together with Gorilla Glue.
A heavy duty garden hose that was badly kinked in many places bc of the way it was packaged.
Can never find anyone to help ask a kid that worked there to help find a tap and replacement bolt he didnt no what a tap was gave him a bolt to match up got home and the bolt he gave me was the wrong size hate this store but only place around
